So let’s face it, managing compliance sucks. It’s complicated, it’s so hard to keep organized, and it requires a ton of expertise in order to survive the entire process.
Welcome to Compliance Unfiltered, a podcast dedicated to making compliance suck less. Now, here’s your host, Todd Coshow with Adam Goslin.
Well, welcome in to another edition of Compliance Unfiltered. I’m Todd Coshow alongside the Grand Marshall to your compliance day parade, Mr. Adam Goslin. How the heck are you, sir?
I am doing just fantastic. How about yourself?
I can’t complain. Today we’re going to talk about a happy new year. How about that? We’re going to talk about the year that was, the year that is, and the year that will be at TCT and in the compliance space in general. So Adam, before we get started, I wanted to remind the folks, now the beginning of the year is the perfect time of year for you to reach out to us, let us know your thoughts, your suggestions, funny jokes, maybe a great recipe, always interested to hear what you have to say to us at Compliance Unfiltered.
Just hit us up, [email protected]. Well, happy new year to you, sir. Talk to us a little bit more about what the year is like for you.
Yeah, and one thing to add on to what you were just saying there a minute ago, because I similarly would echo the sentiment. We’d love to hear from the listeners and, you know, certainly if there are topics that you’re struggling with, if there’s a topic that you struggled with that you think somebody else may be in the same situation, like us to cover, et cetera, go ahead and throw the, throw the ideas. We’d love to, love to hear the input, love to hear the feedback.
But, man, we’re, we’re heading into the, heading into the end of a good old 2025. And, well, we got, you know, we got holidays a foot. We’ve got all sorts of traveling happening. We’ve got college football all over the place. It’s a, it’s a good time of year and also a good time to kind of reflect on, you know, reflect on 25, look ahead at 26. So, you know, I don’t know, as I, as I, you know, kind of take, take stock of, of 2025, you know, it’s just a, in general, it’s a time of year where, you know, remain appreciative of the, you know, of the, the, the folks that surround us, you know, whether they be family or family or friends, and certainly in TCT’s case, the, you know, the, the awesome client base that we’ve got, you know, their, their involvement, their, their, their business, unbelievably appreciative of, of everybody, you know, that, that we’ve got, you know, it’s been, yeah, it’s been a really, it’s been a really fun, really fun year.
Lots of stuff going on on, you know, and all that fun stuff. I mean, you know, you look back and, and you just look at, you know, how many new friends that we’ve, you know, that we’ve kind of made throughout the, you know, throughout the year, it’s been, it’s been a, it’s been a wild ride. So it’s, it’s always fun, fun doing that. Part of the, the, the part that I really like about, you know, kind of about how we do what we do and this arena is, you know, is that input, is that feedback that we get from the, you know, from the customers, especially the new ones that, you know, that come on, getting their input on, you know, things they’d like to see within the system and features and functions, et cetera.
Um, God, when we, when we started this, it started with like, I don’t know, we had, I had 200 or something, uh, different ideas for things that I wanted to, you know, go kind of go do with the system, but when we launched it, it very quickly morphed because, you know, we did encourage the, the, you know, everybody to participate, right? And so when we launched this thing back in 2015, um, it was actually technically, I don’t know if anybody knew this, but it was, it was technically ready to ready for prime time in 2014. And it’s kind of apropos because we’re at the end of the year, right? Well, back in 2014, we were ready to roll in, I think it was around the October, mid to late October timeframe, early November. And, um, the problem was is that we had so many people that we were chatting with that their compliance engagements were, were wrapping up in the, you know, in the quarter that we, we deliberately held off and said, you know what, we’re just going to go launch this in 2015, um, you know, type of thing. We were talking the last time around about people putting their compliance cycles on the, you know, kind of on the calendar year type of thing. And, uh, and that means that for a lot of, uh, of the assessment firms, um, you know, they’re just, they’re just getting absolutely annihilated in Q4.
So it’s, uh, you know, it’s kind of fun to, uh, to kind of look back on, you know, look back on that past and, uh, you know, kind of, uh, experience again in 2025, a full, you know, full decade later, um, you know, type of a thing of, of, of seeing people, you know, leveraging the, leveraging the system, coming up with, with great ideas and whatnot. It’s just a fun relationship that we’ve got with the, uh, you know, with, with the folks in the, in the compliance space. And, and I really, really appreciate it.
Same. Um, speaking of the folks in the compliance space, as you look ahead to 2026, how do you think that TCT is positioned to best serve those?
Well, we’ve been receiving the feedback from the, you know, from the populace, if you will, certainly all the way along, but a lot of input across the course of this past year and whatnot. And, you know, there’s several things that we’re going to end up doing. Probably the largest of those just involves increases in automated intelligence and artificial intelligence capabilities of the platform continuing to streamline, you know, client engagements, you know, especially for the folks that are, you know, involved as a consultant or as an assessment firm, et cetera, you know, just trying to make their world better, their world easier, less time, less stress, you know, things along those lines. We’ve historically had, you know, a good focus and a heavy focus on several of the compliance standards. So, sorry is what I meant to say, you know, several different compliance standards and certifications that are out there. You know, there’s some new ones that are coming up and, you know, just a friendly reminder to the folks listening that every single time that a standard or cert goes from one version to the next, you know, or there’s a new one that comes out, you know, we will, you know, for paying clients, we will add those things to the, you know, to the platform. We don’t charge the clients to do it. That’s part of our job.
So, it just makes it fun because it’s a platform they can come to depend on. Certainly one of the areas where TCT absolutely shines is where we’ve got, I’m going to call it phenomenally complex engagements where you have a lot of locations or you have a lot of different standards you have to go up against. That’s really an area where we are able to dramatically optimize the, you know, the experience. So, we’ll continue to extend those optimizations through the combination of the automated and artificial intelligence arenas through 26. We also have some baseline features that we’re going to, you know, continue to bolster, make better, you know, and whatnot. Like the centralized dashboard, especially for those complex clients, we’ll be putting a good amount of focus there. You know, one of the things that we want to be able to have the clients do is to be able to kind of make their dashboards their own, you know, customize them in a manner or way that allows them to see the information and detail that’s important to them. You know, we’ve got right now the main dashboard that comes up is kind of a standardized dashboard. But, you know, we serve, God, we serve so many different types of people in the compliance arena, right? We’ve got folks that are going through compliance. We’ve gone on the other end of the spectrum. We have auditors and assessors that are auditing and assessing compliance. We have consultants that, you know, that are attempting to assist and navigate compliant clients through the, you know, through the process. We’ve got service providers that serve compliant organizations. So, we’ve just got so many different people, even if you think about it, right, on a, I like to call them applicants, the people that are applying to be certified.
But on those, within those organizations, you know, there’s even various roles within that. You’ve got project managers. You’ve got the, you know, the compliance officer. You’ve got, you know, control owners all kind of going all the way down to HR and whatnot. So, there’s a number of different, number of different roles that people have on these engagements.
And we want to be able to kind of allow for customization of the experience through the system to kind of fit the different folks that we’ve got on the platform and the needs that they have for data and information because everybody is going to be looking at things differently.
So the question was, what’s like one word or theme for the upcoming year that kind of pops to mind for you?
Can I, Can I use two?
Yes, it’s more or better. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
At the end of the day, I mean, TCT hasn’t done anything differently. We haven’t done anything differently since we started.
And that is literally to make things more better. Um, you know, this is an arena that, that has an astounding amount of complexity. Um, you know, we, we serve a, a, a very diverse, um, a diverse base of clients. You know, right. We talked about the different types of clients that we have, but even if I go within that, you know, we’ve got folks that are in healthcare, we got folks that are in e-commerce, we’ve got folks that are, um, you know, that are manufacturers, you know, and, and, and it’s, it, we’ve got a broad spectrum of, you know, of companies and organizations out there. So, um, you know, in, in part that’s fun is when we do get that, that feedback loop, the input from, you know, from the clients, getting their, you know, kind of getting their take on things that would make their, their, their lives better. Um, you know, I was talking the last time around about how, um, you know, encouraging folks to be part of the solution, you know, type of a type of a thing. And it’s fun. It’s it, this is a fun arena because every single time you get a new set of eyeballs on it, people are saying, you know what, this is cool. But it’d be really cool if it fill in the blank, right? And so, you know, getting those inputs, having those discussions, um, you know, one of the most rewarding elements of, uh, of being in this space and serving the folks that we do is, is just watching the, you know, kind of the progression of, um, you know, of their engagements of the way that they attack or handle their engagements, the stresses that they, that they have, the efficiencies they can build in. It’s not, uh, it’s not just a linear, a linear function. Every single, well, the one thing I’ve learned a lot about, um, especially over the course of the last decade plus that, uh, you know, that we’ve been serving folks in the space is every single one of these organizations is different. Um, the people that are working for them, they’re different. They have, they have different goals, aspirations, objectives, things that they’re interested in, ways they want to do it. And so attempting to, uh, to kind of serve that, that diverse of a client base means that we, we have to remain flexible. Um, and certainly in terms of the approach that we’ve taken to, you know, solving problems in this, in this arena, we definitely took, uh, you know, took an approach of, um, you know, of, you know, having a baseline, uh, a baseline system that could generally solve the needs for, you know, for folks in this arena, but we also built in a lot of capability for, um, and customizing, uh, based on the, you know, the client circumstances. Um, the other interesting part about watching clients, you know, I want to call it evolve, um, you know, over time is that, you know, when they first get in and they start using the system, you know, you know, maybe they start off with a notion of, you know, just trying to get through that first engagement, you know, type of a thing.
Um, and then once they, you know, once they’ve kind of fulfilled that check box, um, you know, then it’s how can we make it better? And, and the, and the interesting part is that every single one of these organizations has different goals, objectives, things that they want to do, you know, and whatnot.
And it’s been, it’s been a fun ride, uh, kind of working with folks, figuring out how to go about doing it in a way that, you know, that allows us to customize the, you know, the, the, the system and the solution to the distinct needs of the, of the different organizations that we serve. Um, but that’s been, uh, that’s been part of the, uh, part of the fondness we’ve been going through it.
Yeah, it certainly has anything that stand out from your mind in your mind from the last year that you want to make sure that you share gratitude or wisdom from Well,
Well, in general, the calendar year, 2025, a great, great year, certainly, one of the things that we’ve appreciated, and I mentioned this on, I believe I mentioned on prior pods, but like we go, we’re out there, we’re talking with folks, et cetera, some of the best friends and proponents of TCT and the TCT portal are actually the active existing clients. And I can’t tell you how appreciative I am of the folks that will tell a friend that will see someone struggling and say, hey, you need to go have a chit chat with these guys. That part has been very rewarding.
Certainly for the active clients watching more and more of them actively engage with us and talking about what their circumstances are, things that they would like to see made better and being able to be part of the solution with evolving their security and compliance programs, that has been very rewarding to watch unfold. Certainly as we stare over the Times Square ball drop, if you will, and looking at a new year headed in, we’ve got a lot of fun stuff that we’re going to be getting up to and getting into in 2026. So very, very looking forward to, very much looking forward to the reaction from the folks in the compliance space. It should be an exciting and fun year for all of us.
Absolutely, it should. And that right there, that’s the good stuff. Well, that’s all the time we have for this episode of Compliance Unfiltered. I’m Todd Coshow, and I’m Adam Goslin. Hope we helped to get you fired up to make your compliance suck less.
