So let’s face it, managing compliance sucks. It’s complicated, it’s so hard to keep organized, and it requires a ton of expertise in order to survive the entire process.

Welcome to Compliance Unfiltered, a podcast dedicated to making compliance suck less. Now, here’s your host, Todd Coshow, with Adam Goslin.

Well, welcome in to another edition of Compliance Unfiltered. I’m Todd Coshow alongside the adult beverage of choice to your compliance holiday, Mr. Adam Goslin. How the heck are you, sir?

I have not had nearly enough of those today. Long story short, Lord.

Oh, man. Well, since we are in the giving season, sir, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind our listeners, give us your feedback. We’d love to hear what you have to say. Reach out at [email protected]. Let us know what you think, like, share, subscribe, tell your friends, all the fun stuff.

Well, Adam, this time of year, I like to spend my time being thankful. Thankful for a lot of things. Thankful for my kids. Thanks for my dog. Thanks for my family and job and all the things. What are you thankful for this year, sir?

Oh, well, um, you know, just, it’s been, uh, it’s been a, uh, been a good year. We’ll, we’ll be, we’ll be doing like, uh, officially a new year’s, uh, a new year’s edition, you know, type of thing for the official reflection on the year and all that fun stuff, so stay tuned. But, um, no, it’s just, uh, you know, you get to this point in the year and, uh, you know, every, it’s, it’s funny, you know, um, you know, some, you know, I’m, thankful, I’m thankful we’re at this point, we’re about to, you know, go embark on, uh, you know, whatever, in about 10 days or so of, uh, primarily, uh, food and family and all of that fun stuff. But no, it’s, uh, it’s a, it’s a fun time of year.

You know, it, it makes me, it makes me think about some of the poor souls that are like, especially in the compliance space, right? You’ve got, there’s a lot of organizations. I think, I think it was born from, you know, a lot of organizations, the, the compliance endeavors started by somebody originating out of like the, the CFO, you know, the, the accounting arena, and they’re so used to having their, their engage, you know, their, their stuff go on a, you know, an annual cycle, you know, most companies are, are going January, December, right? And so there’s a lot of people that, uh, that have their compliance engagements that go from January 1st to December 31st. So, you know, while a lot of people are heading off in, into the, uh, into the holiday sunset, if you will, you know, there’s definitely some people in this compliance space. They’re, they’re kind of gearing up, right? They’re mentally preparing themselves for, uh, for all of the fit that’s about to hit the Shan.

They got an extra cup of eggnog over there.

Uh, yeah, with hopefully a couple of additives in it to help them navigate the waters. But I mean, it’s for a lot of folks in the, in the, in the compliance arena, this time of year is, is, uh, it’s kind of stressful, uh, extra stressful, right?

You’re not, you’re not just worrying about trying to navigate holidays and all that fun stuff, but you’re, you’re also, you know, staring down, uh, staring down a big hole in, uh, engagement and, and all of that fun stuff. So that definitely makes it, uh, make, makes it a little bit more exciting for some of the, some of the poor souls in the, in the, in the compliance management arena.

That totally tracks. Now, what type of messages of peace and goodwill do you have for those compliance teams out there right now in the stick of it?

Well, you know, we started this wild extravaganza for a reason, right? We were trying desperately to, you know, to help folks navigate their compliance engagements in a more peaceful manner, if you will. And a good part of that just comes down to, you know, the one thing I’d say to the folks in the compliance arena that, you know, they’re, you know, about to enter the kind of fray, if you will, for their, for the annual engagement. I always try to, you know, find ways to make, make things better. And so, you know, for those folks that are, you know, actively going through the, you know, through the thick of it, if you will, once you get past that point, you know, give us a, you know, give us a holler, we’ll, you know, we’d be glad to have an open dialogue about how to make your world better.

You know, certainly one of the things that I integrated, I integrated this capability into the portal back in 2016, which was, we call it operational mode, right? Where, you know, one of the problems that I had on security and compliance engagements is, you know, the clients would run these engagements on an annual cycle and we get to the end of the year and that’s when you’re finding out, oh, crud, you know, whatever. Bob forgot this or Mary forgot that, you know, etc. And it was just, it just added to the complexity that we had to deal with. And so, you know, that’s why we integrated that operational mode is to try to spread out the, the load that typically comes at the back end of a, of a compliance engagement, spread that out over the, across the course of the year. It’s, oh my God, it just makes things so much better, you know, and, and so, you know, if we’ve got folks that are, that are listening in and reflecting on, you know, their, the fray that, that, that invoked on their last, you know, on their last engagement, you know, that’s where, you know, that’s, that’s where we’re able to help. I mean, we coined the, coined the phrase, you know, making compliance management suck less for a reason and, you know, it’s just because it doesn’t have to be such an absolute crap show, you know, as you’re, as you’re going through it. You don’t, you don’t really need to be, you know, reaching for that, you know, for that glass of, of spiked eggnog, just to try to survive the process. There, there was a solution.

There definitely is now we started this conversation just chatting briefly about, you know, stuff that we’re grateful for. Talk to me about just kind of your overall feelings of appreciation for the important people in our lives in the compliance space and otherwise.

Well, I mean, at this time of year, it’s fun to reflect back on all of the great relationships that we have, that we continue to foster, and whatnot, especially with the active clients that we’ve got, et cetera. I’m really appreciative of all of the great clients that we have, and we have a lot of fun interacting with them, collaborating with them, helping them.

It’s really a ton of fun being able to be part of the solution for so many that struggle in this space and in this arena. Similarly, we’ve got this… It’s not all me, that’s for darn sure, if it weren’t for the folks at TCT who yet again have done a great job throughout the year fulfilling their various roles, if it weren’t for them, TCT wouldn’t be what it is right now. I remain appreciative of the hard work from the team and whatnot as they have navigated the waters this year and assisted so many with trying to make their… The goal or the objective of making compliance management suck less for everybody. The driving force for TCT, from the very beginning, it was really an endeavor to alleviate pain, streamline compliance engagements, make people’s lives better and easier through the process. That really hasn’t changed. It’s always fun, especially with the new folks that come on. One of the things that I’ll tell them right out of the gate is I’ll say, look, you guys have a material benefit. You are coming onto a system that literally has been serving security and compliance folks for over a decade. Be part of the solution as you enter into that space. If you have ideas for improvements, if you have cool stuff you’d like to see in the system, bring it up, ask the question, bring it to somebody at TCT because that’s the way that the TCT portal has continued to evolve since those very, very early days back in 2015, but I really encourage them to do that, really for two reasons. We tried to make the portal and its features and functions easy to use and easy to pick up, et cetera, but we’ve got a ton of features, functions, and capabilities that have been built into the system over the last decade plus. By asking those questions, by bringing those things up, it really gives us an opportunity either, A, to say, oh, yeah, we can help you there and here’s how type of thing because it’s functionality that exists, but otherwise, if you’re coming up with good ideas that you’d like to see in terms of features and functions, I’m sure positive there’s somebody else that would love to see the same thing. That’s why I encourage them, be part of the solution and jump into the fray, both feet, and let’s see how we can help each other. One of the most important things that we’ve managed to establish with the folks that we work with is kind of an open and direct dialogue between the organizations and in terms of serving their needs and fulfilling the objective of streamlining and mitigating the pain that’s associated with their compliance engagements.

So speaking of good ideas, Adam, um, I wanted to ask, what would you, what would you characterize as TCTs Northern Star going into 2026? Is there one, uh, one feature that you’re really going to be doubling down on, uh, for clients and current and new clients, uh, you know, as we head into the new year.

Oh, see, you’re stealing all the thunder from the New Year episode, but no, the bottom line is that when we first started, we had a ton of cool ideas that we thought would be awesome to go put into the portal. We’ve continued to get those requests throughout the year.

The one area that is going to see a marked change across the course of 26 will be increased intelligence within the platform, whether it is actually intelligent automation or starting to dip into the artificial intelligence. Those are both areas that are going to be arenas that see a lot of change within the system, within the platform, but honestly, there are a ton of things that we’ve always had on the list that we’re going to be going in and doing as well. So again, I would encourage the client base just keep talking and keep giving your suggestions. We’ll keep prioritizing them and making this making the system better and better and better for those that depend on us. Absolutely.

Well, happiest of holidays to you and your family, Adam.

Thank you very much. You as well, and certainly to the listeners as well, you know, I hope that everybody has, you know, has happy holidays, gets as much joy and downtime as humanly possible to be able to enjoy it.

You know, certainly like I said, if you’re struggling with engagements and want to find a better way, certainly TCT would be happy to give you some assistance in that happy holidays to all the listeners. And again, really appreciate you guys.

Absolutely. And that right there, that’s the good stuff. Well, that’s all the time we have for this episode of Compliance Unfiltered. I’m Todd Coshow, I’m Adam Goslin. I hope we helped to get you fired up to make your compliance suck less.
