Those in the compliance space have come to know a special pain. If you manage compliance engagements, you know that it’s an enormous challenge to coordinate and orchestrate everything. It is an almost insurmountable task when trying to do it manually.
Even in a straightforward or simplistic compliance scenario, you have hundreds to thousands of pieces of evidence that go up against requirements and need to pass through internal quality assurance before heading off to your Assessor, their reviews and finally into a completed state. Typically, it involves many people provisioning evidence across varying states in the workflow, and that’s what makes compliance engagements so challenging.
Stressing Out Over Compliance Management? Here’s How to Keep Your Cool.
Honoring Your Efforts on Labor Day
Labor Day celebrates American workers — and their efforts have led to the betterment of our organizations, as well as our country. We celebrate this holiday to tip our hats to those workers.
The person at the center of compliance is literally an integral part of making sure that all layers of controls for an organization are in place. These controls form effective layers of protection for the organization, and even for the country. The United States remains a juicy target for attackers, so it’s appropriate to recognize those who work so hard to protect our organizations on Labor Day.
TCT Was Established for You
Managing a compliance engagement takes a lot of hard work, and that’s part of the reason that Total Compliance Tracking was created: to ease the burden for those facing the challenge of managing compliance. As a result, TCT Portal was born in an effort to assist the folks who labor so hard to manage compliance engagements.
It has been, and continues to be, incredibly rewarding to watch organizations level up in their compliance maturity. That path often starts with manual tracking, then moves to adopting systems and automation to bring sanity to the process. Then they extend their footprint and operationalize their overall program. It’s a joy to see these compliance professionals go from beleaguered to confident over time as they walk into their annual assessments.
One of the perennial challenges that compliance personnel face is the turnover in key staff. It’s astoundingly difficult for new people coming in to pick up the objectives quickly — it often takes years to get their sea legs. It’s been a privilege to provide an automated compliance management system that eliminates most of that labor, while dramatically streamlining adoption and comprehension.
Leveraging a systematic approach and automation helps preserve the hard-working sanity of all the players involved in compliance, but especially for those poor souls that find themselves in the eye of the compliance hurricane
TCT Thanks the Unrecognized Laborers
The work compliance professionals do for an organization is deeply understated and their value is often overlooked. Nobody walks into the office in the morning and gives their compliance officer a hug because the program is being held together, or that their data is secure. You do all this work validating controls and ensuring layers of protection are working harmoniously so that you don’t have an event, or at least greatly mitigate the chances of one. And there’s no celebration for the colossal efforts and months of overtime that it took.
Unfortunately, people in the organization usually only notice compliance when something goes wrong and the company finds its name in flashing lights due to a breach or unauthorized exposure.
All of that compendium of work, effort, validation, and patching helps to protect the organization, and we can never put a finger on how many failed attempts by bad actors would have been successful if the organization wasn’t taking it seriously.
Nobody is going to run in and give you a hug because your name wasn’t in lights, but TCT knows that your efforts actively help protect your organization and that you’re the one ensuring that controls remain up, running, functioning, and protecting.
You have an important role that goes mostly unnoticed, but it remains an essential labor of love. For that, TCT recognizes you this Labor Day.
